SALARIED GENERAL PRACTITIONER WITH AN INTEREST IN RAPID ASSESSMENT & CARE
Part-Time (10hrs per week)- 12 Month Fixed Term Contract
Salary - from £74,192 - £110,737 (pro rata as applicable)
Looking for a new and exciting challenge? Then think about working in NHS Forth Valley in the heart of Scotland.
We are looking for a motivated and innovative salaried General Practitioner, already employed within NHS Forth Valley, to work in the Ambulatory Emergency Care (AEC)/Rapid Assessment & Care Unit (RACU).
The successful applicant will work as an integral member of our multidisciplinary team, comprising of nursing staff, advanced nurse practitioners, pharmacists and Speciality Doctors along with our substantive Consultant Physicians in Acute Medicine.
We can offer a high degree of flexibility to the right candidate regarding specific roles and responsibilities. The post will be primarily based within Rapid Assessment & Care Unit (RACU), currently located in our Urgent Care Centre.
RACU is the provision of same day care for patients who would otherwise be admitted to hospital. Under this care model, patients presenting at hospital with relevant conditions can be rapidly assessed, diagnosed and treated without being admitted to a ward, and if clinically safe to do so will go home the same day their care is provided.
You will have the opportunity to manage a range of acute medical problems and to develop your clinical leadership within these areas. This includes developing RACU specific clinical pathways to complement those already in operation (suspected deep venous thrombosis, low risk chest pain).
You will be expected to manage patients as part of a wider team comprised of senior Advanced Nurse Practitioners and GP with Specialist Interest, supported by dedicated band 5 and band 3 nursing staff.
The numbers of sessions per week are negotiable. The major roles of the successful candidate will include (but not be limited to):
* Working alongside other members of the Acute Medicine multi-disciplinary team to deliver high quality healthcare in RACU
* An Interface role between primary care and secondary care looking at how we can move towards frictionless care
* Developing clinical protocols which span the primary care/secondary care interface
* Contributing to clinical governance and quality improvement within RACU at FVRH
* Contributing to the ongoing education of the multidisciplinary team within RACU at FVRH
Applicants will be registered with the General Medical Council and the General Practitioner Register by the time of appointment. Applicants are required to have evidence of recent continued academic and professional development. Excellent communication, listening and organisational skills are essential.
Informal enquiries should be directed to Dr Karen Adamson, Associate Medical Director Unscheduled Care or Dr Dan Beckett, Clinical Lead for Acute Medicine.
Closing Date: Tuesday 11 th March 2025
Interview Date: TBC
