Quality Improvement Lead (Nuclear Medicine and Bone Densitometry)

This Post is for a 24-month secondment / fixed-term Quality Lead position within the STSFT Medical Physics service. You will be charged with aligning Departmental protocols, Policies and procedures with the Quality Standard in Imaging with the ultimate view to obtaining formal accreditation with the standard at the end of the fixed-term period.
You will provide knowledge and understanding in respect to developing and delivering effective digital healthcare systems, quality management systems, document management systems, quality improvement methodology and the adoption and spread of innovation.
In addition to the adoption of the QSI standard, the Department is also undertaking several quality improvement projects within our Imaging services including adoption of contrast-enhanced CT which you will lead.
This Post is open to both Clinical Scientist and Clinical Technologist/Radiographer staff groups.
Main duties of the job
You will implement QSI to a level that can be managed by permanent staff and lead projects or service improvement initiatives as needed. You will provide expert quality improvement (QI) knowledge and capability to contribute to safer healthcare, building quality improvement capability and capacity across the System.
You will utilise existing knowledge and experience to work closely with local, regional, and national organisations, building close working relationships on quality improvement to ensure that objectives are met. You will manage the production of project plans that deliver agreed milestones and objectives.
Working closely with the Head of Clinical Nuclear Medicine and Head of Nuclear Medicine Physics to determine and allocate staff and other resources for projects, monitoring work allocation and reallocating as necessary to ensure successful delivery to time, cost and quality.
You will implement projects and report on progress via appropriate governance structures. You will engage wider networks at sector, regional and national levels to facilitate dissemination of the project learning and tools. You will work effectively with service users, clinicians and managers across organisations to provide and receive information to influence change or overcome barriers.
Job responsibilities
Principal task is to implement Quality Standards in Imaging (QSI) in Medical Physics such that it can be managed after that time on an ongoing basis by the Departments permanent Quality Manager (Head of Radiopharmacy).

Person Specification
Skills and Knowledge
* In-depth knowledge of legislation, regulations, standards and protocols relating to clinical nuclear medicine and bone densitometry.
* Ability to communicate effectively with other health professionals and work across disciplines and with a wide range of professional groups.
* Good time-management and organisational skills.
* Can demonstrate independent working whilst responding as part of a wider team.
* Excellent analytical and interpretative skills, enabling the development, planning and implementation of service changes.
* Knowledge of archiving and radiology information systems.
* Good report writing and presentation skills.
* Working knowledge of quality standards and quality management systems appropriate to a Medical Physics service.
* Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams/meetings.
Experience
* Significant clinical, management and leadership experience as a senior radiographer/technologist/scientist.
* Experience in leading and implementing changes in practice with an ability to motivate others.
* Experience in delivering high-quality training to all groups of staff.
* Experience of workforce and workload planning.
* Successful track record of project and service management within a Medical Physics service.
Qualifications
* Degree or equivalent in relevant subject.
* Post-Graduate Diploma or equivalent experience.
* Register for Clinical Technologists or HCPC registered Healthcare professional.
* Leadership/ management training or equivalent experience.
Physical Skills
* Ability to meet the travel requirements of the Post which will require cross-site working at South Tyneside, SRH and QE sites when required.
