The Heating Safety Manager will be responsible for overseeing planned & responsive heating operations, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and managing risks associated with gas, oil & other installations and appliances. This role involves policy implementation, staff training, and conducting audits to maintain the highest safety standards.
About The Role
* Develop and implement gas/oil safety policies and procedures.
* Ensure compliance with local, national, and industry gas safety regulations.
* Conduct risk assessments and safety inspections on heating installations, pipelines, and appliances.
* Investigate and report any gas-related safety incidents, providing recommendations for corrective action.
* Manage and coordinate gas/oil safety training programs for employees and contractors.
* Liaise with regulatory bodies, auditors, and stakeholders regarding compliance and safety issues.
* Maintain up-to-date records of gas/oil safety certificates, audits, and maintenance logs.
* Supervise heating engineers and ensure all work is carried out to required safety standards.
* Stay updated on industry changes, technological advancements, and legislative updates regarding gas safety.
* Implement emergency response plans and conduct drills for gas-related incidents.
Required
* Gas Safe Registered certification (UK) or equivalent certification in relevant regions, and be fully conversant with all the latest applicable legislation, regulations, and procedures.
* Oftec Registered and be fully conversant with all the latest applicable legislation, regulations, and procedures.
* HSE-related training, such as risk assessment and hazard management.
* Full, clean driving licence.
Desirable
* NEBOSH Certificate/Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety (preferred).
* IOSH or other recognized safety management qualifications.
* Knowledge and experience of working in contract management and directly monitoring contractors with a strong focus around productivity, quality, health and safety compliance and cost effectiveness.
* Experience of organising and managing cyclical and periodic inspection programmes such as stock condition surveys, gas, oil and electrical, inspection and servicing programmes.
Experience
* Minimum 5+ years of experience in gas safety management, gas engineering, or related fields.
* Experience in regulatory compliance and health & safety leadership roles.
Skills
* Strong knowledge of gas safety laws and regulations (e.g., Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998 in the UK).
* Excellent leadership and communication skills.
* Ability to conduct safety audits and risk assessments.
* Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
* Proficiency in reporting and documentation.
