The Opportunity
We’re seeking an exceptional hands-on finance leader to drive our high-growth sports tech startup to the next level. As our part-time Financial Director (1-2 days per week, based in our Canary Wharf London office), you’ll own our financial strategy, build scalable operations, and ensure disciplined execution while navigating the dynamic challenges of our fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Strategy & Leadership
* Partner directly with the CEO to develop and implement comprehensive financial strategy aligned with ambitious business objectives
* Take full ownership of financial forecasting, cash flow management, and strategic financial planning.
* Build and refine sophisticated financial models to support critical business decisions and growth initiatives.
Operational Excellence
* Establish robust financial infrastructure and company-wide best practices
* Ensure full compliance with tax, reporting, and regulatory requirements
* Drive operational efficiency while maintaining the agility needed for rapid scaling
Financial Reporting & Risk Management
* Deliver clear, actionable financial insights by distilling complex financial and market data
* Maintain impeccable financial records and reporting standards
* Conduct financial audits, identify optimisation opportunities, and implement adequate internal controls
Required Qualifications
* Professional Qualification: ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent accounting certification
* Startup Experience: Proven track record as a Finance Director in high-growth technology environments
* Industry Expertise: Experience with UK-based advanced manufacturing and/or tech sectors
* Dual-Thinking: Tactical thinking combined with hands-on execution capabilities
* Communication Skills: Ability to translate complex financial concepts into actionable insights for non-financial stakeholders
* Modelling Expertise: Advanced financial and data modelling capabilities
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience in sports technology, hardware/software development, or global manufacturing
* Experience in a high-growth tech company
* Passion for the intersection of technology and sport
This is a part-time position (1-2 days a week) in our office in Canary Wharf
