What this role is about:
The Product Owner will be responsible for the success of the customer and user outcomes produced by a cross functional product team. They will drive product advancement and champion product excellence to exceed user expectations and attract new users. They will leverage their product expertise to understand user problems and deliver solutions through the cross functional team. The Product Owner will align with strategic goals to positively impact real-life scenarios for law enforcement, fire and medical emergency services, search and rescue, and special operators.
Key Responsibilities:
* Strategic Alignment: Ensure that your product domain achieves the quarterly product OKRs set by the Product Lead, and support the company's overall business, technology, and product strategy.
* Product Ownership: Take responsibility for your product's delivery and performance, proactively addressing any underperformance and celebrating successes.
* User Focus: Become an expert on the user and their needs by working closely with the Senior Product Manager.
* Product Expert: Become the primary source of knowledge for product demonstrations and information by developing a deep understanding of the product and its use cases.
* Team Collaboration: Work within a cross-functional product team alongside a Senior Product Manager, primarily handling all Agile product management practices (ceremonies, backlog, refinement/replenishment etc). Ensure a shared understanding of priorities and progress between the product team and stakeholders.
* Oversee and Organise the Product Backlog: Ensure it accurately reflects priorities and goals. Base decisions on evolving user needs, analytics, feedback, and technical constraints.
* Solution Exploration: Support the Senior Product Manager in pre-development solution experimentation discovery with end users.
* Building and Optimising Solutions: Collaborate with the Senior Product Manager and cross-functional product team to deliver valuable solutions to the end user. Use value-based prioritisation, set success criteria, measure outcomes and make decisions to iterate or roll back until you reach your goal.
* Proactively Identify and Address Risks and Dependencies: Ensure these don't impact the delivery of releases and upgrades.
* Programme Management: Deliver complex programmes of product work from inception to delivery, coordinating with cross-functional teams, including sales, design, engineering and marketing.
* Documentation: Create and own the internal and external product documentation for your product. Write release notes and support creation of marketing and sales collateral.
* Product Best Practice: Advance product best practice and principles within your product team and the product department, driving continuous improvement.
Key Attributes We Value:
* NPPV3 Clearance: Successful candidates must pass an NPPV3 clearance upon successful application, which requires 3 years of UK residency.
* Willingness for regular travel: This position requires regular travel across the country to meet with end users.
* Product Management Expertise: Proven experience in Agile product management using Jira, Confluence. Background in product management for app and web UI.
* Problem-Solving and Decision-Making: Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills are indispensable.
* Technical Acumen: Should be able to grasp technical concepts, engage meaningfully with engineers, and develop innovative solutions to complex problems.
* Leadership and Collaboration: Ability to lead critical work areas independently and collaborate effectively with diverse teams, including senior stakeholders, technical, research, legal, compliance, accounts, sales, or marketing departments. Ability to motivate teams without direct authority.
* Organisational Skills: Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail. Proactive approach to defining and managing workload.
* Teamwork: The ability to work both independently and collaboratively is key. The Product Owner should be a self-starter who can also thrive in a team environment.
* Positive Attitude: Positive and proactive, with a willingness to take on responsibilities.
It’s a bonus if you have:
* Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
* Prior involvement in emergency services, military, aviation or drone technology.
* Certified Scrum Product Owner.
