What You'll Be Doing: Designing mechanical components and assemblies for products supporting a diverse customer base. Utilizing top-down modeling approaches in 3D CAD software (experience with PTC Onshape is a bonus). Developing low-cost, high-volume components with DfM expertise in sheet metal, plastic moldings, extrusions, castings, brazed and welded sub-assemblies, and CNC machining. Defining technical specifications and project timelines while collaborating across multiple disciplines. Performing tolerance stacks, 1D thermal analysis, 3D structural & thermal CAE modeling for battery components and systems. Experience with MATLAB, FEA, and CFD tools is a plus. Producing detailed engineering drawings for both prototype and volume production with a focus on cost, mass, BOM, materials, and surface finishes ( GD&T experience is desired ). Leading mechanical design releases using PLM software ( PTC Arena experience is a bonus ). Driving mechanical design FMEA and writing design validation test procedures. Supporting prototype assembly processes, creating build instructions, and defining best practices for assembly ( fixture design experience is a plus ). Liaising with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure quality components and timely deliveries. Managing prototype builds, including potential on-site work with suppliers. Staying up-to-date with emerging battery and component technologies. Mentoring junior engineers, fostering a culture of learning and development. What We're Looking For: Strong experience in mechanical product design, ideally with electrical component integration. Familiarity with battery or electrical systems. Expertise in DfM across various manufacturing processes. Proficiency in mechanical analysis methods and engineering tools. Experience with controlled regulatory environments and requirements capture.
