Housekeeping Team Leader
Location: Clifton Park TC, York
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Full-time

Our Housekeeping team is responsible for ensuring consistently high standards of cleanliness throughout the hospital; from patient rooms on the ward and operating theatres to x-ray rooms and physiotherapy, and for looking after public areas and office spaces, everyday offers something different.

The role:
As the Head of the Housekeeping Department, you will supervise the smooth and efficient running of the cleaning operation for the whole hospital and a team of eight Housekeeping Assistants. You will provide training and development within your team to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene are achieved every day.
In this role you will be responsible for the organisation and allocation of duties, motivating and developing your team, monitoring cleaning standards, working with other Heads of Departments to ensure required standards are met, as well as conducting audits and actioning any findings from the audits. As the Housekeeping Team Leader there is an expectation that this role will also carry out housekeeping duties throughout the hospital where needed.
Good verbal and written communication skills are essential, along with an organised and methodical approach to work. The ideal candidate will be flexible and adaptable, have a motivational approach with their team and have previous proven supervisory experience.
You will be contracted to work 37.5 hours per week on a flexible basis. Housekeeping services in the hospital are available from 6.30am through to 9pm and there may be time you will be required to be present at either end of the day. This means that your days and hours of work could vary each week.
As the hospital is open 365 days of the year, you may be required to work weekends, public / bank holidays and during Christmas and / or New Year on a rota basis.
Essential requirements:
* Cleaning skills and housekeeping experience.
* Supervisor experience and leadership skills.
* Strong communication and leadership skills.
* Able to work fast and efficiently without compromising on standards
* Have a good eye for detail
* Able to work as part of a team and create great relationships with other departments
Desirable requirements:
* Previous supervisory experience in healthcare environment
* Knowledge of health safety and hygiene & COSSH regulations.
* Knowledge of infection control techniques and standards
* Ability to coach and encourage individuals to be accountable for their own performance
