The role is based in our Bournemouth or Reading offices and will be part of our broader Sustainability group which has a presence in every Hoare Lea office across the country.

The role
As part of the role you will:
1. Take ownership and deliver small scale projects.
2. Support senior team members on large scale projects and take ownership of specific workstreams.
3. Lead workshops with the client and design team and communicate information in a clear and concise manor.
4. Effectively delegate, manage and review work undertaken by others.
5. Support the training and development of junior members of the team.
6. Undertaking a range of modelling and analysis, which may include but not limited to: building performance simulation, operational energy use, energy generation and overheating.
7. Lead the development of energy strategies.
8. Supporting the drive towards realising net zero whole life carbon in our projects.
9. Working with other members of the Sustainability Group on research and development initiatives to allow us to stay at the cutting edge of knowledge in our industry.
10. As well as project-related work, the Group engages directly with industry undertaking research and development studies, and authoring industry guidance. The role also presents the opportunity for involvement in this aspect of the Group’s work to those keen to have a direct influence on the industry.
What we are looking for
Key Skills & Knowledge:
You will have detailed knowledge, competence and qualifications in a selection of the following fields. It is not expected that applicants will have expertise in all of the below topics. Applicants will be expected to have focus areas and detailed knowledge within them and should demonstrate a willingness to gain expertise in other topic areas.

12. Building Regulations Part L assessments using Elmhurst and IES
13. NABERS UK modelling
14. In-Use energy modelling and assessment
15. Dynamic modelling for thermal comfort assessments and overheating risk assessments
16. BREEAM and HQM assessments
17. Bespoke sustainability charters
18. Health and wellbeing strategies and certification
19. Production of planning documents including sustainability statements, energy statements, whole life carbon reports and circular economy statements
20. Net zero carbon strategies and embodied carbon calculations
21. Circular economy strategies.
