Are you passionate about patient safety, care, and experience? Do you enjoy quality improvement and supporting teams to achieve their highest outcomes? If so, an exciting opportunity has arisen in the Professional Practice & Safety Standards Team (PPSST) for three Senior Nurse/Midwife/AHP to join our dynamic and progressive team. Based at St James University Hospital with travel to other sites, the position is full-time, working Monday-Friday, offering flexible working hours, including one working from home day a week, where able to.
One position is a 12-month secondment, working with the Clinical Support Team within the PPSST. The CST has a wide-ranging portfolio that includes working clinically alongside and supporting ward teams to improve safety in the area. The clinical work is often based on adult inpatient wards but support could cover all areas within the Trust.
The other two posts are full-time permanent positions to work as part of the Professional Practice & Safety Standards corporate nursing team who are involved in all aspects of patient safety across the Trust. The post offers excellent opportunities for development into a corporate role, whilst still maintaining clinical contact with patients and professional colleagues. If you are excited by the opportunity to work in a supportive and friendly team and want to drive improvements across LTHT, then this is the team for you.
Main duties of the job
The CST post holder will be involved in undertaking and reporting assurance visits and the monitoring and progression of the Ward Health check metrics program, providing clinical support, training, and education to staff members, and working with nursing teams to develop skills/methods to support wards in improving standards, whilst supporting other projects conducted by the PPSST.
The other post holders will work as part of the PPSST to implement a range of projects in the Trust along with ensuring compliance to key performance indicators. This involves initiating contact with clinical staff, investigating, analysing data, mapping workflows, implementation, training, documentation (including policy and protocol development), and supporting wards and departments teams. The post holder will participate in the planning and management of projects as required, providing feedback to relevant corporate and operational teams on progress and issues relating to clinical practice on wards and clinical areas.
Additionally, as an experienced Nurse/AHP/Midwife, you may be required to work with a team of staff to provide time-limited support to the Matron, Ward Sister, and clinical teams to ensure consistent high-quality care is delivered when measured against key performance indicators. This will involve coordinating activities on the ward/dept ensuring effective communication is maintained at all times, providing support to qualified and unqualified nurses within the ward/dept.
