Role Overview:
As a key member of the IT Leadership Team, the VP of Innovation, Strategy, and Enterprise Architecture will define and drive how Smith & Nephew adopts emerging digital technology while strengthening and evolving its overall Enterprise Architecture. The successful candidate will have a passion for exploring new technology capabilities including Artificial Intelligence and Automation and how they can be embraced to create transformative value at Smith & Nephew. He/She will be able to inspire across the organization (Board level to individual contributor) and will be able to partner with teams across the organization to identify high-potential use cases, drive rapid proofs of concept (POC's), and evaluate feasibility and attractiveness of scaling innovation POC across the enterprise. This role will be accountable for ensuring that our Strategic Enterprise Architecture is robust, aligned to our IT strategy, and that it governs investment decisions.
Responsibilities:
1. In partnership with the CISO, Legal, and compliance, ensure we have a robust governance framework to manage the enterprise-wide AI innovation portfolio; maintain single source of truth visibility to all AI and automation initiatives and ensure all comply with security, governance, and legal requirements and policy. In partnership with Business/Functional CIOs, inspire and identify high potential use cases to apply innovation technologies.
2. Lead efforts to frame problems, develop proofs of concept, and evaluate feasibility and attractiveness for scaling innovation
3. Lead team of Strategic Enterprise Architects and ensure strategic platforms have robust roadmaps and governance. Ensure emerging capabilities from 3rd party solution providers are understood and aligned with our strategic investment plans and priorities
4. Develop the IT strategy and roadmap for innovation
Experience: ·
5. Using Design Thinking techniques to frame personas, user stories, and problems to solve with AI and/or Automation ·
6. Driving lightweight / fast prototypes or proofs of concept leveraging effective tools and techniques (e.g., Signavio/Celonis, etc.) ·
7. Cultivating and engaging relationships with 3rd party partners to explore use cases, support proofs of concept, and interpret emerging capabilities · Presenting compelling strategies to senior executives/board ·
8. Leading Strategic Enterprise Architecture ·
9. Building teams and capabilities to manage innovation Competences: High bias for action and simplicity; strong intellect and ability to apply rapidly evolving technology to concrete business problems.
10. Ability to facilitate discussions and design workshops that deliver meaningful results
Physical Demands: Able to work across time zones effectively with rest of IT Leadership Team (ITLT) based in US, UK, Poland, and India
Travel Requirements : 25–50%
