Senior Handy/Supramax Operations Manager - London
Opportunity to join a reputable London-based dry bulk owner/operator as they expand their business for an experienced (min 7 years) operations manager. In this role, they will be operating both owned vessels as well as chartered vessels operating on voyage booked cargoes. They will be responsible for ensuring the best financial outcome on all voyages and charters.
Whilst the remit will extend to a fleet trading worldwide, there will be a focus on East Coast South America and US Gulf trading.
Remuneration will be competitive.
Key Job Functions:
1. Manage a fleet of owned and chartered ships – including regular interaction with captain and crew to ensure ongoing maintenance and cleanliness, ensuring smooth operations between and during voyages.
2. Liase with all key external parties such as agents, tug boat operators, canal authorities, customers operations departments, bunker suppliers, and our 3rd party technical managers.
3. Work closely with chartering personnel to ensure a minimization of off-hire days for commercial or technical reasons.
4. A willingness to travel regularly to visit ships and key ports in the owners trading programme.
Key Skill Requirements:
1. Either seafaring experience or a degree in a related subject strongly preferred.
2. A detailed understanding of end-to-end voyage economics.
3. Experience of the River Plate, the Mississippi, Brazilian Coastal Ports, and The Panama Canal.
4. Experience of geared dry bulk vessels strongly preferred.
5. The right to work in the UK.
