You’ll become part of a passionate and supportive team in a fast-paced, dynamic and result-driven environment. About the role The role reports to the Legal Director. You will be responsible for providing Legal support to a key part of the Business and work closely with the Property acquisition team. This is a broad Senior Lawyer position in a dynamic start-up environment in an exciting new industry. Candidates will ideally have worked in-house or in private practice for at least 4 years, however candidates with less experience will be considered if they can demonstrate a good cultural fit and willingness to learn. Your responsibilities will include: Land Acquisition: Leading on freehold and leasehold acquisitions for our EV charge point sites from initial scoping, production of heads of terms, to contract drafting, negotiation and completion. Site providers may be Local Authorities, private or institutional landlords Conducting title due diligence and preparing reports on title and recommendations of site viability to the business Advising on most appropriate contracting structure for site acquisition and ongoing site utilisation and asset management (including the grant of sub-leases) Drafting and negotiating options to purchase, land purchase agreements, leases, easements, wayleaves and related agreements Facilitating DNO / IDNO connections to the site Working with the Tenders Team on RFIs, ITTs, responding to tender T&Cs Experience in public procurement, construction contracts and sub-station leases will be highly regarded. Commercial Contracts: Familiarity in drafting commercial contracts as a “wrapper” to the property interest Familiarity with (or a willingness to upskill on) supplier agreements for acquisition, design and build agreements Familiarity with (or a willingness to upskill on) drafting and negotiating services agreements for hardware, software and other professional services Ability to work with internal business teams to fully scope out and define the services required, define service levels and identify and manage risk. Other: Leading on the drafting, negotiation and completion of the Leases for our office premises Playing a key role in developing and building-out the Legal, compliance and regulatory functions of the business as required. We are a small team, so a willingness to be involved in areas outside of Property / commercial law is essential – for example: ISO and B Corp certifications; data privacy and compliance; drafting corporate policy documents and consumer issues Ability to drive a negotiation towards completion Comfortable with stakeholder / shareholder manager Putting in place negotiation playbooks, template terms and conditions and processes Conducting Legal research and keeping abreast of legislative developments Producing and updating Legal templates.
