Job Purpose:
The Group Communications Assistant is responsible for supporting the Group Communications team across a broad range of activities in five key focus areas: Internal Communications, Digital & Social Media, Media Relations & External Communications, Community Investment, and Business Partnering with functions across our Group. The position also has the opportunity to drive our Market & Competitor Intelligence activity.

Requirements
Principal Accountabilities:
The Group Communications team is small, providing an opportunity to get involved in a wide range of activities including, but not limited to, the following:
1. Staying ahead of trends in the market and competitor movements, producing daily media monitoring reports for the company leadership team.
2. Preparing market intelligence reports to help our teams on the ground - for example, a weekly analysis on the African mining sector or monthly oil market reports.
3. Supporting the management of the website and creation of content for both the website and social media platforms.
4. Helping to manage the social media presence of the company.
5. Supporting production of internal comms content, such as the fortnightly company newsletter / monthly ‘people moves' newsletter.
6. Ensuring the company's website and intranet sites are regularly maintained and updated, taking particular ownership of intranet management.
7. Supporting with developing other content, including screensavers, posters, etc.
8. Tracking and reporting on the Group's community investment activity.
9. Maintaining and managing the Group's image library.
10. Attending online and face-to-face industry events to help generate market intelligence content.
You will be at the centre of activities taking place across the Communications function, supporting the team and developing an in-depth knowledge of this area of the business.
Job Knowledge, Skills & Experiences:
We are looking for an enthusiastic self-starter who can demonstrate an interest in Communications, ideally with applicable previous work experience.
Some understanding of the oil & gas industry, particularly in relation to the industry in Africa would be beneficial. French language skills are a bonus, but not required.
1. You have a minimum 2:1 university degree.
2. You have excellent writing skills and a high attention to detail.
3. Excellent fluency in English. Solid knowledge of French is a bonus, but not a requirement.
4. You are a good researcher - able to analyse industry and economic reports, extracting and summarising the most relevant information.
5. You are eager to learn about our business and industry, and also ready to come up with ideas to improve how we work in the Communications function.
6. You are a real team player.
7. You are able to quickly grasp the requirements of the role and apply yourself to independently get the job done.

Note: This role is a 12-month fixed term contract. Following this fixed-term contract, there may be an option to extend, by mutual agreement.
Note that the role is based in the London office. The successful applicant will be expected to work from the office for at least four days per week, although there is the possibility to work flexibly at other times.
