Interim Environmental Health Officer - Health Protection

Pay Rate: £20.85 per hour PAYE
Working Hours: 37 hours, Monday – Friday, 09:00 - 17:30
Duration: This opening assignment is for 2-3 months
City: NORTHAMPTON
The post holder is required to work across the Council area (Wellingborough, Corby, Kettering and East) supporting the team with a backlog of inspections. The post holder may also support other work such as the investigation of complaints.
Undertake duties in respect of all commercial premises within the district to fulfil the Council's statutory duties for food safety, health and safety, and control of foodborne illness and infectious diseases. Ensure businesses comply with food safety and health and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Inspect/audit and undertake interventions in commercial premises to determine compliance with food safety and health and safety legislation.
2. Investigate food hygiene and health and safety complaints, infectious or foodborne disease, accidents, and dangerous occurrences.
3. Coach, mentor, and support compliant businesses.
Qualifications:
1. BSc or MSc Degree in Environmental Health or Higher Certificate in Food Control or equivalent.
2. Registered with EHRB/CIEH.
3. Full driving licence and access to a car for work.
Experience:
1. Experience in Health Protection including food safety, health and safety, infectious disease control, and health promotion.
2. Experience of a wide range of enforcement activity.
3. Experience of dealing with members of the public.
Skills & Abilities:
1. Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills.
2. Able to produce clear, concise, and persuasive written reports and letters.
3. Able to demonstrate skills in planning and organising.
4. Ability to work as part of a team and manage own caseload.
