The Group Head of Operations, Markets will play a vital role in driving commercial outcomes within the Markets division and across the Group more broadly. Applying an enterprise mindset and pulling on best practice from across the group, the intent of the role is to set and define the long-term development of the Operations strategy for the Markets division, contribute to group wide Operations strategy, oversee the efficient operation of core Market and Clearing Operations, as well input to the successful implementation of business improvement initiatives group wide.
The role will have a dual reporting line into the Group Head of Markets and Group Chief Operating Officer (COO) and will sit on both leadership teams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Operations and Change strategy – Leveraging Group shared services, utilities and best practice, the role will lead the development and execution of Markets Operations and Change strategy, setting and driving performance and the achievement of key risk indicators, holding ultimate accountability for their successful implementation.
2. Enterprise wide leadership and influence – together with the Group COO and peers on the COO leadership team, will lead on group wide initiatives and improvements, feeding in requirements for the Markets division.
3. Resilience and Operational Excellence – Champions, reviews and improves, across the group and division, the frameworks, processes, policies and standards for ensuring strong resiliency and responding to operational issues and implementing operational change.
4. Customer focus – taking a customer centric approach, build improvements to the divisions’ and groups’ operations.
5. Project planning & delivery – supports the roll out of projects for the Markets division, consulting and working with the Markets leadership team.
6. Representation – Represents Operations, Markets and LSEG at the most senior levels internally and externally. This will include influencing the Operations agenda across LSEG through membership of the COO LT, presenting to EXCO, Boards, regulators, clients, members and partners.
7. Business Operations leadership – is a member of the Markets leadership team and matrix report to the Group COO, with matrix accountability for the entity Operations teams, ensuring resiliency across the division, consistency in tooling, process, building long term team growth, technical capability and performance, as well as improving customer outcomes.
8. Continuous Improvement - fosters a culture of continuous improvement to reduce inefficiencies, improve processes and minimise the risk of operational issues in day-to-day business processes and operational change programmes.
9. Business Control – holds responsibility for leading the divisional control environment, data governance and coordinating operational resiliency and delivery.
10. Values - demonstrates and role models the Values and People Leader Expectations in day-to-day activities and interactions and creates a culture of high performance and engagement through real time support and challenge.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
1. Extensive experience leading Operations within financial markets infrastructure.
2. Solution orientated, ensuring technology, data and straight through process architecture are embedded into design.
3. Must possess a strong enterprise-wide mindset and be able to deliver group wide programs whilst taking into account and meeting local needs. This will require extensive experience in influencing and achieving at a global enterprise level.
4. Demonstrated track record in implementing straight through processing architecture to improve organisational outcomes.
5. Exceptional capabilities to lead within a global and matrixed organisation, leading and influencing across matrixed lines, pulling together teams into a community of practice to bring consistency to process, increase resiliency and efficiency, and improve customer outcomes.
6. Strong influencing, communication and presentation skills, including presenting to and influencing Boards, regulators, C-Suite within major financial institutions and executive committees.
7. Excellent relationship building and interpersonal skills.
8. Experience transforming large teams at scale.
9. Demonstrated impact and outstanding track record of results on improving customer experience, quality of services, resiliency, internal simplification, and speed to market.
10. Expert counsel and advisor to peers.
