Role Overview: The Regional Accountant - Southern Europe will be responsible for providing comprehensive financial support and business partnering across the Southern Europe region. This role will focus on P&L analysis, margin analysis, budgeting, forecasting, compliance, and financial reporting. The successful candidate will work closely with the European Financial Controller to ensure financial goals and processes are met, while also identifying opportunities for system and process improvements that can enhance the efficiency of the finance team. Responsibilities: Provide financial business partnering support to regional leadership teams. Conduct detailed P&L analysis, variance analysis (AvB), and margin analysis, highlighting key drivers of financial performance. Advise on financial performance and contribute to decision-making processes to support operational and strategic goals. Lead the annual budgeting process for the Southern Europe region, working closely with local teams to set financial targets and KPIs. Prepare and update regular forecasts to ensure alignment with business objectives, adjusting for any market or operational changes. Manage regional cash flow forecasting, ensuring liquidity and financial stability. Provide insights on cash flow management, identifying risks and opportunities related to working capital and cash position. Facilitate regular supplier payments and oversee the collection of customer debts, working with Shared Service Centre team to resolve queries and escalate delayed payments. Monitor and analyse inventory ensuring slow moving stock is adequately provided for. Ensure compliance with local tax, audit, and financial regulations across the Southern Europe region. Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors to facilitate audits and ensure accurate tax filings. Ensure all statutory and in-country financial filings and reports are timely and accurate. Evaluate current financial processes and systems to identify areas for improvement in terms of efficiency, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness. Advise on potential system upgrades or process changes, and support the implementation of these improvements within the finance team. Requirements: 4-7 years’ experience in accounting or finance, with an understanding of the manufacturing sector, sales and distribution. Proven experience in P&L analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and margin analysis. Demonstrated experience with in-country tax and compliance requirements across Southern Europe. Previous exposure to working in a multinational or regional finance team would be advantageous. Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (ACCA, ACA, CIMA, or equivalent qualification is desirable, either qualified or studying). Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards and practices within the manufacturing sector (IFRS) Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics, Coupa) is a plus. Strong analytical skills with the ability to communicate complex financial data to non-financial stakeholders. Proactive and results-oriented approach with the ability to identify issues and propose practical solutions. Fluency in English is required; additional languages (e.g., Spanish, Italian, French) are a plus. Strong communicator with the ability to engage and influence at all levels of the business.
