What you will do in your working day
* Setting out and surveying of construction site.
* Ensuring that all works are complete to the latest revisions of construction drawings.
* Deliver site inductions including completion of the associated attendance briefing sheet.
* Ensuring the works are completed without harm and in line with Seymour Safety, Health & Environmental standards.
* Ensuring that all deliveries are fully checked before being signed for.
* The delivery of daily briefings to all site-based personnel.
* Ensuring the works are completed to correct quality in accordance with relevant specifications and construction drawings.
* Daily management of site operatives and subcontractors.
* Notifying Wages and Human Resources of any absence (authorised or unauthorised) and sickness.
* Ensuring all relevant documents are returned to Head Office.
* Ensuring adequate dilapidation survey / pre‐start photographs are taken prior to commencing on‐site
* Ensuring adequate progress photographs are taken during the construction phase of the project. This includes daily photographs of all work fronts irrespective of progress made or if works are ‘standing’.
* Ensuring adequate completion photographs are taken upon completion of the works.
* Collation of as‐built construction information.
* Any other duties as required for the role.
The training you will be getting
Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship programme, learners will be awarded a BSc (Hons) in Civil Engineering.
All training is delivered by Teesside University at their Engineering and Construction School in Middlesbrough as a day release programme.
The overall aim of the degree apprenticeship is to provide apprentices with the skills and understanding of the principles, practices, and ethics in the construction industry at a national and global level.
The structure of the course is designed in collaboration with industry to meet construction and societal needs in terms of management, digital information, technologies, law, procurement, and sustainability.
This apprenticeship is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) which provides a seal of approval, signifying that apprentices will develop the skills and knowledge required by the construction sector.
What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship
To work as a fully qualified Construction Site Manager.
Future progression routes could include Project Management, Contract Management etc.
