Job overview
SHSC welcomes volunteers and is currently looking for a range of different volunteers with various skills and interests to support SHSC, its service users, and staff. Volunteers help to improve the experiences of patients and visitors, providing a rewarding experience that allows them to learn new skills, meet new people, and give back to the community.
Main duties of the job
Volunteers are based in various settings across Sheffield, including Woodland View Care Home, Birch Avenue Chapeltown, Grenoside Grange, Michael Carlisle, and Longley Centre. Our Voluntary Services Team provides comprehensive training and support to ensure volunteers provide the best service possible and gain valuable experience. Volunteers must be aged 18 or above and commit to at least 3 hours a week for 6 months, undergoing the relevant recruitment checks and mandatory training.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
We offer a variety of volunteer roles that are non-clinical and complement the work of our paid staff, including Gardening, collecting feedback from service users, Reading Aloud to patients on Acute Wards, and supporting activity coordinators in care homes for older adults living with Dementia. We welcome volunteers with various skills, including arts and crafts, baking, singing, and dancing.
