Marine/Maritime Lawyer – LA Marine Team - Southampton - 3+ years PQE
Lester Aldridge have an exciting opportunity for a skilled and motivated 3-6PQE marine/maritime lawyer to join our friendly Southampton-based team.
We are looking for an experienced lawyer with 3 to 6 years PQE. The ideal candidate will have litigation and/or transactional experience in the marine or maritime sector, or other transferrable skills but with a strong interest in the marine industry. You will have a proven track record, excellent technical knowledge, communication, organisational and IT skills.
On a day to day basis you will be responsible for handling a broad and varied marine and maritime caseload acting for a diverse client base, including marine insurers, vessel owners, operators, dealers and managers, shipyards and ports, harbours and marinas. No two days are the same and we achieve a good work/life balance. You will be based close to the sea in our new Southampton office with the option of flexible working arrangements.

Responsibilities:
1. Management and development of a mixed caseload of marine related work to include:
1. Drafting documentation
2. Undertaking legal research and keeping up to date with latest legal knowledge and working practices
3. Responding to queries from new clients
4. Advising clients in person and in writing
5. Finding legal and commercial resolutions for clients
2. Develop and influence evolving aspects of marine law
3. Comply with and promote firm-wide SRA procedures in particular those relating to compliance and accounts
4. Promoting the firm’s core values
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
* 3+ years post qualification experience
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Desirable:
* Marine or shipping experience and/or
* Litigation experience and/or
* A passion for sailing
