Job Description:
OCS is looking for a Food Service Assistant who will be working in a busy hospital ward. This position is on a 2-week rota with a mixture of early mornings, afternoons, and weekend working, with the latest finish of 7 pm.
The weekend attracts an enhanced rate of pay of £14.44 per hour.
A catering background and a Level 2 Food hygiene course is an advantage. Full training will be given. You will be working on a rotational shift any day between Monday to Sunday between 06:30 to 19:00, 24 hours per week, on a permanent, part-time basis.
Overall Purpose of the Role
1. To work as a team, responsible for the efficient and timely preparation of a quality service.
2. To assist in clearing of meals and beverages for client company employees and guests.
3. Adhere to company policy on dealing with customer comments.
4. Ensure personal appearance, including uniform, are of the highest standard at all times in line with company policy.
5. To ensure that company brand standards are met.
6. Maintain a high standard of food presentation to maximise sales potential.
Main Duties & Responsibilities of the Role
1. To comply with company and client policies of quality and standards in catering.
2. Ensure that customers receive a prompt and courteous service at all times.
3. Adhere to company policy on dealing with customer comments.
4. Maintain Contract health and safety, and hygiene standards following current legislation.
5. Ensure that due diligence records are completed and maintained.
6. To adhere to site cash handling procedure.
Details of the Role
1. To ensure that all clients and customers are dealt with promptly and courteously according to company standards.
2. Prepare counter to the standard laid out by the management.
3. Serve all food and beverages at the specified times and in the appropriate quantities.
4. Ensure sound knowledge of the food to be served daily, together with the appropriate garnish and portion size.
5. Ensure tables, chairs, trolleys, and floors are kept clean and tidy at all times.
6. Assist with the washing-up of light equipment in the wash-up area.
7. Assist with the collection and removal of cutlery, crockery, and trays in the appropriate way.
8. Assist in food preparation of sandwiches, salads, and vegetables as instructed.
9. Clean all areas of the servery, salad bar, beverage machine and preparation areas using the nominated cleaning schedules.
10. Ensure that all floor and wall surfaces are kept clean to the prescribed height.
11. Ensure table condiments and sauces are available on the appropriate sections or tables, and replenished at regular intervals.
12. To perform any other duties which may be reasonably required by your Line Manager or the company.
13. To maintain the on-site vending on a weekly basis to SLA standards.
Educational Level
1. Educated to GCSE level or equivalent.
Professional Qualifications
1. Basic food hygiene (Intermediate desirable)
2. NVQ 1/2 In Customer Care
Experience
1. Experience in a similar role is preferred but is not essential.
