Apricus Resourcing are working with an award-winning, independent healthcare supplier who are looking to recruit an Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician for a permanent, full-time role within one of the prisons they operate in Liverpool. The role is based with a client who delivers a range of healthcare services on behalf of the NHS, Local Authority Public Health services, and other partners.
Within your role, you will be working within a busy medicines management department helping with reconciliation tasks and liaising with Primary Care and General Practitioners to optimise patient care. You will also have senior responsibility for Controlled drug stock control and management.
Your main duties within the role will include supporting the chief pharmacist in the medicines management team and liaising with other healthcare professionals both internally and externally. You will also assist in the delivery of training to prison healthcare staff and GPs to ensure that medicine optimisation services provided to patients are of a consistently high standard across the organisation.
Duties for the role will include:
1. Establishing effective working relationships with the pharmacy team, GPs, non-medical prescribers, and all other members of the healthcare team to promote the objectives of prison healthcare.
2. Representing the organisation at prison-related public awareness events when required to promote a partnership approach to medicines optimisation.
3. Helping with reconciliation tasks.
4. Working as a valued member of the MDT while building lasting relationships with key stakeholders, including external agencies, to assist in ensuring the delivery of safe and effective health and social care.
In order to be considered for the role, you will need to have a BTEC or equivalent in pharmaceutical sciences along with an appropriate accredited technician checking qualification. Other key desirables are a knowledge and passion for pharmacy legal requirements and controlled drug legislation, substance misuse knowledge, and at least 2 years of experience working in a prison or hospital setting.
The working hours for the shifts are either 8am-6pm midweek and 9-5 on weekends with hourly rates of £22.65/h midweek and £24.44/h for weekends.
