Field Service Engineer - Heavy Plant & Equipment - Oxford/Birmingham & surrounding areas - UK
Elite Consultancy Network have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Field Service Engineer to join their prestigious client, a market leading dealer within the UK heavy plant market.
Responsibilities
1. Self-manage the service and repair of construction equipment.
2. Identify mechanical problems, using technical knowledge and computerised diagnostic equipment.
3. Act as the main point of contact for the customer, ensuring high levels of satisfaction through effective resolution of queries and regular communication on planned site visits and machine repair progress.
4. Maintain a sufficient personal toolkit to carry out the job effectively.
5. Accurate completion of systems and paperwork.
6. Order parts as necessary and return parts in a clean condition at the time of job completion to aid the efficient invoicing of workshop jobs.
7. Assist and coach colleagues with technical support and guidance where necessary.
8. Flexibility to work overtime and honour reasonable call out requests.
9. Attend relevant product/systems training courses, staying away from home where required, to ensure a high standard of competence.
Qualifications
1. A formal engineering qualification in Plant Maintenance, Agricultural/HGV mechanics or related discipline (i.e. NVQ 3/C&G).
2. Relevant experience in the repair and maintenance of heavy construction plant, including proven technical competence on diesel engines, transmissions, drive lines, hydraulics and electrics.
3. Advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting skills with a comprehensive understanding of hydraulics, electrics and EATS.
4. Desirable: Welding and fabrication skills.
5. Good team worker.
6. Ability to communicate efficiently with colleagues, management and customers.
7. Commercially aware, effectively supporting customers within the geographical area.
8. Problem-solving ability and high level of diagnostic skills.
9. High standards and attention to detail.
10. Ability to understand technical literature/systems.

2. 38.5 basic hours per week - Core hours: Monday to Wednesday 08.00 – 16.30, Thursday 08.00 – 16.00, Fridays 08.00 – 15.30.
3. Overtime paid after 38.5 hours at time and a half until 12pm Saturdays.
