Downend School is excited to be recruiting for a part time DT - Food & Textiles Technician to join our thriving faculty. This is a part time, fixed term contract initially but there is the opportunity to build on experience and become a full time permanent member of the team over the next couple of years.

About the role
You will provide technical and administrative support to teaching staff, including in-class support and preparing lesson resources for Food & Textiles. You will be helping our students to receive a full experience of Food & Textiles in engaging lessons. You’ll work closely with all members of the Technology Department and the wider school to support our students in reaching their potential.
The department is excellently resourced and housed in a suite of purpose built specialist rooms. The Technicians support the day-to-day running of the department including preparing resources and materials for lessons, ordering supplies, administration and assisting in the delivering of practical learning activities for students.
You’ll join a team of hard working and specialist teaching & support staff within the Technology department, who are driven by a keen desire for our students to reach and exceed expectations. Practical activities are at its core.
About you
You would need experience in working with a range of different materials and equipment, however, you do not need to have specific education experience as we can provide on the job training. If you are interested in considering a career move into a role which includes your design, manufacture and/or DT background but also an opportunity to contribute to developing student knowledge and skills, this position could be for you.
