The Hospitality Department of the Property Division are responsible for operating various cafes, restaurants, bars and events located across all their Campuses to provide affordable and high-quality food and services for the Imperial community and external clients. They create a valuable resource for Imperial, which in turn supports our academic community of world leaders in the provision of Engineering, Medicine, Natural Sciences, Business Management, Research and Teaching.
We are looking to recruit an Assistant Events and Catering Duty Supervisor to join our busy Events and Guest Operations Teams in conducting and assisting with supervising a wide range of events located predominantly within the South Kensington Campus however you will also be required to work at all Imperial Campus locations when the business needs arise. In addition, this role will involve early mornings, late nights and weekend work.
You will join a dynamic team of professional individuals supporting a continuous drive to improve service provision to Imperial and its clients, both internal and external. The role encompasses the supervising of successful events and Team members to ensure the client’s requirements are delivered to the highest possible standards.
You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills enabling you to liaise confidently and professionally with Imperial staff and clients. You will need the ability to assist with managing multiple activities.
You should have an interest in Events, have good time management skills and strive to deliver and ensure excellent customer service.
You will also be expected to deputise and assist the Events and Catering Duty Supervisors, as and when required.
1. Previous experience of supervising a team, with proven ability to motivate and supervise team members
2. Responsible attitude towards health & safety at work
3. A good understanding of the use of and physically able to operate different equipment/machinery within the work area and the ability to operate such equipment/machinery and lift objects of varying loads
4. The ability to work under pressure, making rapid on the spot decisions
5. A professional and customer focussed approach
6. A good command of verbal and written English, to understand written and verbal instructions and communicate effectively with customers, including staff, students, and visitors
7. Have excellent interpersonal skills and be flexible and adaptable due to the business requirements
8. Tact and diplomacy to deal with people in all circumstances in a professional manner
9. Excellent organisational and time management skills, to deliver an efficient and reliable service
