Techniche Global are supporting a leading automotive manufacturer to appoint a Connected Cars Validation Engineer.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Support the Electrical & Electronic (EE) Test team with:
2. End to End system validation for connected car telematics systems in line with project schedules.
3. Interoperability testing of connected systems.
4. Creation of test plans to meet with project and design milestones.
5. Confirming vehicle level quality, function & reliability standards are maintained when changes are implemented.
6. Conducting root cause investigation of complex concerns on vehicles.
7. Confirmation of vehicle specification and test parts required for test.
8. Using industry standard management systems such as JIRA and TestRail.
9. Technical support and software management for the vehicle manufacturing plant and the vehicle test fleet.
10. Management of suppliers, technicians, and guest engineers.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
1. Relevant experience in automotive electrical and electronic system development, completing a minimum of two vehicle developments, or equivalent experience.
2. Ability to travel abroad, typically a few days to 2 weeks, with rare occasions of long-distance travel for longer periods or at short notice.
3. Degree qualified in a relevant discipline.
4. Knowledge of software programming and software quality assurance.
5. Experience of software application into vehicle ECUs in the manufacturing environment – flashing, coding/configuration, and calibration.
6. Experience of risk assessing software modifications and developing appropriate test plans.
7. Experience of validating multiple software versions simultaneously and adapting prioritizing validation activities.
8. Understanding of network communications and multiple bus principles (CAN, LIN, Ethernet).
9. Ability to operate CANalyzer, CANoe, Matlab software or similar for capturing data, analysis of data, and preparing/executing test procedures.
10. Experience of offboard telematics systems including servers, network providers, and commercial software applications.
11. Ability to follow system circuit diagrams and identify electrical connections.
12. Practical experience in problem solving tools and techniques e.g., Kepner Tregoe / Six Sigma.
13. Conversant with digital oscilloscopes and basic electrical test equipment.
