About Us The Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) Maintenance Team manages a diverse portfolio of 78 properties, ensuring the operational readiness and safety of GMFRS buildings. Our team is dedicated to maintaining high standards, delivering top-quality maintenance, and supporting the resilience of our community. The Role As a Building Craftsperson, youll be responsible for joinery-focused maintenance and repairs across multiple GMFRS sites. Working independently with a provided van and mobile phone, youll ensure that day-to-day repairs and long-term maintenance tasks are completed to the highest standard. Key Responsibilities Joinery & Maintenance: Handle joinery-specific tasks and general building maintenance, ensuring efficient and high-quality results. Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety regulations (e.g., COSHH, Health & Safety) and maintain accurate records. Multi-Trade Tasks: Perform basic plumbing, patch plastering, painting, and other minor repair tasks as required. Tool Management: Maintain and secure tools, equipment, and vehicles, ensuring everything is fit for use and stored securely. Teamwork: Support apprentices and new staff while collaborating with colleagues and contractors. What Were Looking For Qualified Professional: NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent in joinery or a related trade. Multi-Skilled: Competence in additional trades, such as plumbing, tiling, or painting, is a plus. Physically Fit: Able to handle physically demanding work, including heights, confined spaces, and exposure to various site conditions. Independent & Proactive: Capable of planning and executing tasks efficiently while responding to urgent needs. Team Player: Strong communication skills and a willingness to train and support others.
