We are a friendly and welcoming team of therapists who work alongside our colleagues from other professions to provide acute services in the Medical Rehabilitation team at West Middlesex Hospital. Our Trust provides services from both Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and West Middlesex University Hospital.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be considered a senior clinical staff member and be part of the Inpatient Medical Rehabilitation Team. They will need to have significant clinical experience, provide advanced clinical expertise to their team and more junior staff, and coordinate and deliver high quality care. The post holder will work as an autonomous practitioner in providing Occupational therapy assessment, treatment, and management to their own caseload of patients. There will also be an opportunity to develop specialist knowledge and skills required to work across the older adult pathway.
The post holder will provide supervision, teaching, and support to more junior staff, therapy assistants, and students on placement and will actively be part of a 7-day service rota.
Job responsibilities
* To carry out appropriate assessments for a designated caseload, addressing occupational performance and skills for clients with multiple/complex needs.
* To work with clients to identify and agree treatment goals based on assessment outcomes.
* To use communication, reasoning, and negotiation skills to establish a therapeutic relationship in complex cases.
* To plan and implement individual/group interventions using graded activities to address therapeutic goals.
* To monitor, evaluate, and modify interventions to measure client progress and treatment effectiveness.
* To supervise the caseload management of Band 5 OT and therapy assistants.
* To represent the OT Department within the multi-disciplinary team and participate in relevant team/network meetings.
* To ensure that all documentation and activity recording is maintained according to Trust and College of Occupational Therapists Guidelines.
* To respect the individuality, values, cultural and religious diversity of clients.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Degree in OT or equivalent
* HCPC registration
* Evidence of ongoing CPD
Experience
* Experience of working in acute or rehabilitation setting
* Physical health experience in NHS
* Community experience
* Mental health experience
* Students supervising/mentoring
* Supervision of junior staff
Skills and Knowledge
* Understanding of current best practice and guidelines
* Application of OT processes
* Knowledge of standardised assessments and use in practice
* Experience of working in MDT
* Evidence of client-centred non-discriminatory approach
