Job description
This role will head up the procurement function and provide the strategic lead for procurement at Salix Homes. Leading a small, although highly effective, team, activities will range from managing the coordination of procurement and contract management activities, liaising with the individual business areas to provide sound procurement advice and adhering to Salix Homes' own procurement strategy. The role holder will ensure Salix Homes adheres to commercial and regulatory requirements as well as relevant legislation. Salix has an annual spend of c£52m which you will help lead the process to generate efficiency savings.
The role - What I’ll be doing?
* Providing strategic procurement advice across all levels and departments of the organisation to inform decision making
* Ensuring our procurement activity is compliant in relation to UK procurement law (Procurement Act 2015) and represents best practice
* Developing procurement delivery targets, including cashable savings and generating social value savings to achieve the maximum benefit for customers and the organisation
* Overseeing the completion of the procurement workplan - including successful completion of tenders, oversight of Terms & Conditions and effective contract management
* Embedding value for money across Salix
* Attending Senior Management Team and Audit and Risk Committee meetings to update on procurement activity and progress
What we’re looking for
* A self-motivated procurement expert who can manage effectively and who thrives on change
* A Procurement Industry related Professional Qualification (MCIPS, CIPS, Logistics and supply chain MSc or equivalent similar) or working experience
* Well-developed leadership skills
* Experience in implementing and operating procurement and contract management systems
* Strong stakeholder management, commercial awareness, negotiating skills
