We are looking for an enthusiastic and caringperson with previous phlebotomy or primary care HCA experience to join our friendly, supportive andhardworking clinical team based in Burton Joyce Nottingham.
The role is required for either one or two part time positions over 5 days, working mornings is essential. The scope and nature of theHCA's responsibilities may vary depending on the individual needs of thepractice at any time, therefore, having a flexible approach is needed.
Venepuncture is an essential part of the role, thereforeexperience in this area is crucial.
Main duties of the job
The ideal candidate will have a range of HCA skillsincluding venepuncture, ECGs, urinalysis, blood pressure and pulseobservations, NHS health checks and lifestyle advice.
We are looking for someone who is willing todevelop their skills to include vaccinations, basic wound care and training inLong Tern Condition management.

JobSummary
To assist with the delivery and provision of high quality primaryhealth care service for patients within the practice including clinical andadministrative tasks in which they have been trained and/or shown to becompetent.
The HCA will work collaboratively with all members of themulti-disciplinary team in order to promote a high standard of health andwell-being amongst the patient population and to facilitate access toappropriate medical personnel when required.
Main dutiesand responsibilities
6. To assist the GPs and nurses in providing a high standard of care for the practice population within the practice policies, procedures and guidelines.
7. To assist the GPs, nurses and practice staff to meet the nationally agreed targets for health as agreed in the GMS and Enhanced Services contract.
8. To carry out clinical and administrative duties under the supervision of a senior member of staff.
ClinicalTasks
Undertake,record and follow practice protocols within your scope of practice, including:

13. New Patient checks
14. NHS Health Checks
15. Lifestyle monitoring

17. Vitamin B12 injections
18. Basic wound care, suture and clip removal
19. Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/nurses
20. Health education including promoting the health benefits of a healthy diet, smoking cessation and exercise
21. Assisting the GPs with womens health clinics and minor surgery clinics
22. Chaperoning
23. Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms
24. Check the emergency drugs and equipment
25. Be competent in or willing to work towards administering vaccinations under PSD, including flu, pneumococcal, shingles and Covid-19
26. Ear irrigation
27. Home visits
Clericaltasks
28. Input of general data and clinical information onto electronic patients records
29. Stock taking and ordering supplies of clinical/medical equipment
30. Restocking of clinical rooms as required
31. Dealing with telephone enquiries as appropriate
32. Referral of patients to other medical or administrative personnel and voluntary agencies when appropriate
33. Preparation of equipment for testing and servicing
34. Source and maintain relevant information leaflets and literature for patient displays
Management/LeadershipResponsibilities
35. Support the GPs and nurses in the management and execution of clinical practice
36. Manage own workload effectively within the practice clinic times
37. Attend and contribute to clinical and Practice meetings
38. Take reasonable care of own health and safety and that of others and use equipment correctly in accordance with statutory legislation and practice policies at all times
39. Work within the Primary Care Practice infection control principals and guidelines
40. Conduct risk assessments in situations where personal, colleague or patient safety may be compromised
41. Follow the practice procedures and policies for dealing with complaints, disciplinary and grievance issues
42. Ensure that all those persons met within the course of the job are given equality of treatment and are not discriminated against
43. Participate in audit where appropriate
Research/Educationand Training
44. Assist in the evaluation of current practice and service provision by participating in the collection of data, clinical audit and user satisfaction surveys
45. Participate in regular staff appraisals and performance reviews
46. Undertake appropriate training or development courses as identified through the use of a Personal Development Plan
47. Attend and complete online mandatory training as required
48. Assist in the induction of new staff members
Communication/KeyWorking Relationships
49. Liaise and work collaboratively with the GPs, nurses, practice staff and outside agencies as deemed appropriate
50. Communicate effectively and professionally with patients reporting relevant information or concerns to senior staff promptly
51. Explain clinical procedures to patients clearly in order to obtain informed consent
52. Document written and electronic information accurately and professionally
53. Ensure confidentiality in all matters relating to patients, staff and information obtained in the course of employment in line with statutory legislation
54. Recognise the limitations of own scope of knowledge and practice and be aware of when to refer to senior member of staff
