We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering, with industry knowledge of machining/CNC, to join our dynamic team and help develop the future generation of engineers.
Teaching or assessing experience is desirable, but we are open to applications from candidates with industry knowledge and experience who are looking to explore a career in education. Scope and Purpose of the Role: As a Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering, you will be responsible for teaching and assessing students across a range of programmes, including apprenticeships, further education, and work-based learning. You will play a key role in curriculum development, ensuring the effective delivery of courses and supporting students to achieve their full potential.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
1. Teaching and Assessment: Deliver engaging lessons and assess student progress, ensuring learning goals are met.
2. Curriculum Development: Develop learning materials and contribute to the continuous improvement of the curriculum.
3. Student Support: Provide guidance and support to students, helping them to overcome challenges and succeed in their studies.
4. Quality Assurance: Participate in course verification and quality assurance processes to maintain high standards.
5. Programme Management: Coordinate courses and manage the day-to-day running of programmes, including timetabling and student administration.
6. Professional Development: Engage in continuous professional development to stay updated in your specialist area.
Essential Criteria:
7. Qualifications: Relevant professional technical qualification at a minimum of Level 3, and a teaching qualification (or willingness to achieve one within the first 6 months).
8. Experience: Substantial industrial experience in mechanical engineering and experience in a lecturing or training role within the Further Education sector.
9. Skills: Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire learners.
10. Knowledge: Specialist knowledge of CNC or machinist is essential.

Lets Teach Programme
Let’s Teach The LET’s teach programme supports new members of teaching staff in terms of college systems and key teaching and learning areas including new staff lesson visits and postcard peeps. Each new member of staff has an allocated Lead Practitioner who works closely with them throughout the programme.
Let’s Bloom
The LET’s Bloom Programme aims to connect our experienced and qualified teachers to share best practice and support continued risk-taking as we continue to add depth to our teaching craft. Teachers volunteer on this one year programme, working closely with the Learning Enhancement Team, capturing their experimentation in a journal.
