What the school offers its staff
Working within a team
We recognise that whilst teaching is a highly rewarding profession, it is also demanding; because of this, all our teachers have PPA time together within their teaching team. This means there is quality time to reflect, discuss and plan the next steps in learning with year group colleagues; it also gives the opportunity to share good practice and resources. We take great pride in the fact that all our staff work well together, supporting and challenging each other so that we provide the best we can for our children, whilst also doing all we can, together, to manage workload effectively.
Our curriculum
We use many different resources to help deliver the curriculum including Literacy Tree, White Rose, Unlocking Letters and Sounds, and Cornerstones Curriculum Maestro. However, the curriculum is bespoke to our school in that we adapt it to suit the needs of the children and the context of our community. Our philosophy of Engage, Enquire, Excel runs through the school from our Early Years to Y6.
Being part of The Elliot Foundation Academies Trust
In December 2015 the school chose to convert to an academy with The Elliot Foundation Academies Trust (TEFAT). This is a trust that celebrates good practice and supports its teachers and children to become the best that they can. It is not a trust that has a ‘corporate mould’ imposed upon its schools. Not only do we work closely with schools in the Ely Partnership, but we also undertake joint work with other Elliot Schools in the area. The Trust puts on a range of professional development opportunities that run through the academic year, so if you are an ECT, recently qualified teacher, or are looking for leadership development, then the School is in a good position to offer you effective training and further professional development. For experienced teachers it may be helpful to know that the Trust follows School Teachers Pay and Conditions so years of service are transferred across in terms of continuous service and pension benefits.
Commitment to safeguarding
The school and Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
