Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is looking for an enthusiastic Community Paediatrician to join our team of Consultants, Specialist Nurses, and Specialty Doctor, based in New Street Health Centre, Barnsley.
This post has been created due to the retirement of the current post holder and the existing team reducing their hours of work. This is a 0.75 WTE post that includes the role of Named Doctor for Looked After Children, Neurodisability, Initial Health Assessments for Looked After Children, and Multi-disciplinary assessments for children with social communication difficulties. The team works closely with the Local Authority, 0-19 service, therapists, and other agencies.
The team of Community Paediatricians conduct locality clinics in different areas of Barnsley.

Skills and Abilities
* Willingness and ability to fulfil the key elements of the job description.
* Possession of the clinical skills required to perform the job.
* Ability to develop the service.
* Ability to develop effective working relationships on an individual, multi-professional, and team basis with all levels of staff.
* Good negotiating and leadership skills and experience of multi-agency working at local and regional level.
* Good verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to express complex medical issues in lay terms.
Experience
* Experience in the management of all aspects of community paediatrics including neurodisability and autism.
* Adequate experience working in a multi-agency setting.
* Experience in managing children in vulnerable situations, safeguarding children.
Qualifications
* MRCPCH or equivalent.
* Full GMC registration with specialist registration in paediatrics (or within 6 months of CCT at time of interview).
Audit, Research, and Teaching
* Understanding of clinical governance and the individual responsibilities it implies.
* Knowledge of multidisciplinary audit principles.
* Evidence of direct involvement in 2 specific medical audits in the last 18 months.
* Ability to critically appraise published research and incorporate it into clinical practice where appropriate.
* Evidence of teaching appropriate to medical students and doctors in training and multidisciplinary team.
* Training in areas such as recruitment and selection, equal opportunities, leadership, planning and change management, appraisal.
Management
* Experience in management.
* Evidence of involvement in a research project.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
£105,504 to £139,882 a year per annum pro rata.
