Hello, my name is Dawn and I am the OT professional lead within SWYPT. I am excited to share the opportunity for you to join our Band 5 Occupational Therapy rotation within Barnsley. Barnsley is an attractive place to live and work situated on the edge of the Peak District, with easy access to the cities of Sheffield and Leeds.
Whether you are unsure which field of Occupational Therapy you want to work in or you just like variety, this really could be the post for you.
Rotations not only allow you to experience working in a variety of clinical settings but also allow you to transfer and develop your clinical skills and knowledge within each area, overall developing your Occupational Therapy skills within a variety of settings.
Each rotation will be for 6 months in duration and the rotation posts are available within:
1. Acute adult Mental Health.
2. Neighbourhood Rehabilitation Service (including long-term conditions, D2A, and intermediate care).
3. Equipment and Adaptations.
4. Neurology Rehabilitation.
5. Stroke Rehabilitation.
6. Memory Team.
7. Children's Therapy.
8. Learning Disabilities Community Team.
You will be working alongside skilled Occupational Therapists who will provide support, regular supervision, and a preceptorship package is also available if required. The trust supports learning, and there will be a variety of learning opportunities available to you throughout your rotations.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will rotate every 6 months to a new specialism within the rotation. You will be able to highlight your preferences to the service of your choice, and where possible, this will be accommodated.
You will receive supervision and support within each rotation, and your appraisal will be completed by the service you are in at that time.
You will work with service users within community, ward, clinic, and home environments to provide holistic assessment and treatment. You will carry a caseload and prioritize your intervention.
You will adopt a client-centered and sensitive approach to therapy, collaborating with clients (and/or carer(s) where appropriate) in all aspects of the occupational therapy process.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required for this post. You will communicate accurate and sensitive information to clients and carers using an appropriate and accessible medium, considering relevant factors such as background, culture, gender, age, and any physical, sensory, or learning difficulties, adopting an empathic approach at all times.
You will work in line with HCPC standards and within the Trust's policies and guidelines at all times.

1. To manage a designated caseload using evidence-based/client-centered principles to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate interventions, with supervision.
2. To participate, or work as a member of the multi-disciplinary, multi-agency team, contributing to decisions regarding client care.
3. To maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and activity data.
4. To work to the Trust's/Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council's policies and procedures in accordance with professional standards.

Qualifications
Essential
* Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy.
* Current HPC Registration or to be registered within 3 months from the closing date.
Experience
Desirable
* Placement experience in a hospital setting that demonstrates essential core Occupational Therapy skills.
