Central is currently recruiting for a Support Worker, to work in the Croydon area. The service provides support to homeless adults with complex needs. The successful candidate will be required to work 37.5 hours per week, working across Monday – Sunday on a rota basis, covering early (7AM – 3PM) and late (2PM - 10PM) shifts. Temporary cover is required for approximately 1 month. The pay rate for this role is £14.21 per hour, with £1.72 holiday pay, totalling £15.93 per hour. In this position, you will be expected to; Hold a caseload of up to 5 key clients and conduct regular key working sessions resulting in agreed Support Plans Work with customers to identify their strengths and goals through our asset-based approach to support. Create management plans alongside customers by identifying and assessing risk to ensure they are able to stay safe Support our customers to identify positive move on options and live more independent lives Liaise with external partners, including accessing appropriate statutory and voluntary services Ensure fair access through interviewing and assessing the suitability of referrals, based on the criteria of the project Ensure all voids are advertised and lettings made promptly, and remove items, clean and make rooms ready for new occupants Support customers to pay their rent and provide advice on benefits, debt management and matters relating to their occupancy agreements Deal with breaches of occupancy agreements sensitively and efficiently, in accordance with procedures Ensure customers have up to date information on Health and Safety, and supporting them to manage their environment Carry out regular Health and Safety inspections, taking immediate action to remedy health and safety defects and alerting the appropriate people in line with Health and Safety Policies Please note: this role involves lone working To apply for this role, you must have; Experience of supporting vulnerable people to achieve independent living An understanding of the reasons why people become homeless and the needs and challenges they face Knowledge of safeguarding issues and how they apply in day to day work Knowledge of statutory and voluntary resources available to homeless people including an understanding of welfare benefits Experience of holding a caseload, key working and supporting customers Ability to document clear records and to evidence outcomes achieved with customers Ability to manage time and multiple priorities effectively and take individual accountability for meeting deadlines Competent in using Microsoft word, excel and inputting to database Candidates must confirm their interest as soon as possible, with interviews scheduled shortly after and the appointed candidate expected to start as soon as possible.
