Unqualified Cover Teacher (Graduate Position)
Location: Hull
Start Date: January 2025
Salary: £400 to £550 per week.
Are you currently looking to start your career in education? Have you finished your degree and are unsure of what to do next? Are you about to graduate and looking to gain experience in education? Are you available to work on a full-time basis?
We are working with a number of mainstream and specialist school settings across Pocklington and surrounding areas. Our partnering secondary schools are seeking graduates to work as Graduate Cover Teachers (Cover Supervisors). Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work on daily supply or in longer fixed-term supply contracts.
As a Graduate Teacher, you will be responsible for covering classes in a secondary school. You will be tasked with leading lessons of approximately 30 pupils in the absence of the class teacher. You will be willing to cover classes across the full range of secondary school subjects. You are not expected to be a subject specialist in each area you cover. The lesson will always be planned; it is your job to facilitate the class's learning, manage classroom behaviour, record accurate registers, and provide a handover to the absent teacher. Successful Cover Teachers are adaptable, flexible, motivated, and organised, with a passion for education and supporting young people.
This role provides a great opportunity for any graduate seeking to gain experience working within a secondary school prior to applying to Initial Teacher Training. Although experience of working in a secondary school is desirable, this is not essential, as Vision offers comprehensive training programmes to new Cover Supervisors.
