Salary: Up to £46,800 per annum (depending on experience)
As a Business Development Manager, you will be instrumental in driving growth by securing new business and expanding our presence across the UK. You will play a key role in identifying market opportunities, building strong client relationships and contributing to the success of our commercial services.

The team
This role sits within the relationship and sales team at Energy Saving Trust. The team is responsible for identifying and securing new business opportunities, building strong relationships with clients, and supporting our mission to accelerate the transition to net zero. The team cultivates a collaborative and supportive environment where innovation, ethical sales, and market driven solutions drive our success.
What you’ll do
You will manage a pipeline of business opportunities, handling leads and proactively identifying prospects. Overseeing the full sales process, you will drive growth across our data and digital advice tools, consultancy, and carbon reduction solutions.
Building strong client relationships, you will understand their needs, shape winning contracts, and contribute to business development goals.
Collaborating with the head of sales and account management, you will identify market opportunities, streamline sales cycles, and ensure a smooth handover of clients for long-term engagement. Additionally, you will help develop new business propositions based on market insights and client feedback.
What you’ll bring
* Proven record working in a similar role.
* Interest in energy efficiency/ net zero transition.
* Experience in building a strong pipeline of opportunities.
* Ability to shape opportunities into winning contracts.
* Well-developed interpersonal, presentational and communication skills, with proven ability to build relationships with clients.
* Confidence in collaborating with people at all levels and adapting business models to meet client needs.

As part of our recruitment process, we conduct background checks on all candidates who receive a conditional offer of employment. The nature of the scheme that we are contracted to work on with Scottish Government means that we are required to comply with UK Government standards when carrying out pre-employment checks for new starters. This check is known as the Baseline Personnel Security Standard (or BPSS) check.
The BPSS checks will include a basic criminal record check (DBS check), verification of identity, verification of right to work in the UK and your previous 3 years employment history.
