Balfor Healthcare is currently recruiting a Residential Support Worker to join our dedicated team in Devon, providing exceptional care and support to children and young people in a residential care home setting. The successful candidate will work closely with the children to ensure their safety, well-being, and personal development, helping to create a nurturing environment that supports their emotional, social, and educational needs.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support daily activities: personal care, meal prep, household tasks.
* Build relationships: offer emotional and social support.
* Develop care plans: tailored to each child’s needs.
* Organize activities: arts, sports, therapeutic interventions.
* Administer medications: maintain accurate records.
* Monitor progress: report on emotional and physical health.
* Ensure a safe environment: clean and supportive.
* Manage crises: respond to emergencies and challenging behavior.
* Promote independence: help children develop life skills.
* Uphold confidentiality: respect and dignity of each child.
* Collaborate with the team: attend meetings and training sessions.
* Follow guidelines: policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
Skills and Qualifications:
* Experience in children’s residential care preferred.
* Qualifications in Health and Social Care (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3).
* Understanding of child development and safeguarding.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Patience, empathy, and resilience.
* Organizational and time management skills.
* Flexibility to work varied shifts.
Desirable:
* Training in First Aid, Safeguarding, Medication Administration.
* Experience in children’s residential care or with challenging behaviors.
Working Conditions:
* Based in a children’s home environment in Devon.
* Involves some physical activities and exposure to challenging behaviors.
