Job summary There is an exciting opportunity to join the ophthalmology in Abergele hospital in North Wales and work alongside Mrs Divya Mathews who has been developing the glaucoma service at the Stanley Eye Unit as lead consultant with an interest in glaucoma since 2009. Currently over 240 Glaucoma procedures are performed by Mrs Mathews annually and she is overseeing the development of the management of glaucoma outpatients within the Ophthalmic Diagnostic and Treatment Centre programme (ODTC). We are currently developing the use of 'virtual clinics' in the management of glaucoma patients and the successful candidate will gain useful experience in the development of this service The successful candidate must be close to completing their training programme or have already obtained CCT. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will have a high level of expertise in phacoemulsification The post is available from 1st August 2025, will be paid on the clinical specialist pay scale and is for a fixed period of 12 months. Main duties of the job A full programme of activities is held in the Postgraduate Medical Centre at Glan Clwyd Hospital, including evening lectures (during winter/spring) and combined rounds, which are held throughout the year. The programme also includes staff clinical conferences, tutorials, discussion and journal club meetings and symposiums and films on medical and allied matters.
