The Company
This is an exciting opportunity to join the NPD team of a well established and innovative food business who produce beloved savoury products for the UK major retailers. They are seeking a switched on a Development Chef who can bring delicious new concepts to the shelves across the nation.
The Role
In this dynamic and creative role you will be given the chance to apply your culinary skills, supporting the Development team in the creation of exciting new product ranges. Concentrating on specific customer accounts, you will be able to focus entirely on creating inspiring new concepts that capitalise on your commercial acumen and culinary insights. All to ensure innovative products are in line with the latest food trends as well as customer budgets and launch timescales.
You will also help with the day to day running of the NPD function, from working with suppliers to organising ingredients and improving recipes. You will also be making samples for presentations and participating in taste panels. In addition, you’ll be keeping an eye on the competitors, anticipating new trends and considering exciting new ingredients to introduce into exciting new concepts. You’ll work closely with your fellow development chefs and the wider business, communicating key milestones on projects and ensuring internal and external stakeholder expectations are aligned.
The Person
We are looking for a highly creative and positive development chef who is passionate about their food. Brimming with enthusiasm and ideas you’ll be friendly and approachable with a real can-do attitude. You will have an extensive personal knowledge of ingredients and flavour combinations, able to bring new twists to recipes and a vast back-catalogue of interesting ingredient sources.
Adaptable and flexible you’ll be able to keep up the pace with projects as they evolve, accepting product tweaks and changes with gusto. Ideally you will have food manufacturing experience where you will have developed successful products for either a food retailer or one of the major multiples and you must be able to learn and develop new skills quickly.
Your organisation and presentation skills will be second to none; which you’ll put to use by working as part of a large team.
Please note this is a fully site-based role and a UK driving licence is essential.
