Your role will be to work as part of the multidisciplinary team, to provide child focused, family centred care for children/young people requiring admission to Paediatric services.
You will coordinate and deliver evidence based care while being responsible for liaising with other members of the multidisciplinary team when the patient does not fulfil the admission criteria for care delivery at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
You will participate in the provision of a high standard of patient centred evidence-based nursing care and assist in the delivery of a family-centred, clinically effective and dynamic service; from a babies/child’s/young person’s admission assessment to discharge.
You will act as a role model to deliver a high standard of care to the children and young people whilst supporting learners within the environment to develop their knowledge and skills. Contribute to the development of action plans, protocols and pathways to ensure
continuous quality improvement of the paediatric/neonatal service.
Use appraisal reviews to progress personal and professional knowledge and skills. Undertake the mentorship role in support of learners.
Ensure nursing practice is in accordance with the NMC Code of
Professional Conduct and any specific competencies for the role are completed.
Maintain a high standard of nursing care applying evidence-based practice.
Maintain accurate patient documentation to comply with Nursing and
Midwifery Council Standards for Records and Record Keeping, legal aspects, confidentiality and management information requirements.
Communicate effectively with children and young people, their relatives/carers, significant others, the multi-disciplinary team and support services.
Communicate with children and young people and their relatives/carers on
emotional and sensitive issues.
