About the firm
We’re excited to support the growth of a highly regarded and dynamic regional firm who is seeking a Senior Private Client Lawyer in the Estate Administration team. With a strong local and regional profile and an impressive client base, the firm has experienced exceptional growth over the past few years and is now one of the largest practices in the Devon and Somerset area. With offices in South Devon, North Devon and Exeter, the firm prides itself on collaboration and a ‘low hierarchy’ environment where individuals are encouraged to progress at their own pace. This opportunity perfectly suits a motivated and experienced senior lawyer to take on a key role within a forward-looking and collegiate firm.
About the role
Based from the Exeter, Torquay or Barnstaple office, you will be joining the Estate Administration team, handling a large and varied caseload of estates work, from simple through to complex matters including APR (agricultural) and BPR (business) property claims. You will be working closely with your clients to understand their individual requirements and priorities, and be active in generating cross-referral opportunities for other teams. This could include identifying inheritance tax saving opportunities to add value to the Estate/Beneficiaries and creating work for the Wills, Trusts and Estate Planning team. You take pride in delivering exceptional client service and encourage your colleagues to do the same. You will already be working with high levels of independence on more complex matters, whilst knowing how to access support when you need it and are likely to be STEP qualified or in the process of gaining this. Your proven expertise in Estate Administration means y ou are confident in the quality of the technical advice you provide to colleagues and directly to clients, being able to consider and provide insightful and appropriate advice in each situation.
Being resilient to work under pressure by organising yourself effectively, you will be able to meet deadlines as needed. You will possess proven rapport-building skills and above all else, consider yourself to be an approachable, friendly and collegiate person. Our client has a happy team with a really welcoming dynamic, so you will be a positive and enthusiastic person who knows how to work hard and enjoy it at the same time!
You have a positive outlook on business development activities, appreciating that it is an important part of a senior lawyer’s role. Ideally, you will already possess an established referrer network and good connections in the region.
