Our hybrid working means in this role you are required to be in the office 3 days per week with the option of working from a place of your choice 2 days per week.

BT Group has an expansive property portfolio across the UK, and the purpose of the Technical Services Manager (Fire Safety) is to ensure that property asset investment decisions are technically and commercially sound which will support the business in ensuring continued delivery of its products and services. With a focus on Fire Safety, the role is accountable for developing and maintaining a best in class fire safety management strategy.
What you'll be doing
1. Responsibility for building assets maintenance and investment programme’s across the BT workplace estate.
2. Accountable for investment plans that maintain a resilient and functioning BT workplace (powered assets).
3. Accountable for outsourced partner infrastructure survey schedules and reporting cycles.
4. Provide subject matter expertise in M&E and Fire asset maintenance and investment principles.
5. Assist in the execution of property plans and transactions including asset acquisitions and disposals.
6. Support property projects including assistance with the procurement of professional services, construction, fixtures and equipment.
7. Liaise with departmental representatives to support all relocations and management of relocation services.
8. Provide reports and ensure property related data is appropriately maintained in systems.
9. Accountable for maintaining a proactive fire safety management strategy to ensure that BT Group remains compliant with all relevant fire safety standards in our buildings.
10. Supporting BT Group’s infrastructure investment programme with the successful delivery of over 1000 projects per year.
11. Perform the role of subject matter expert within the BT Group Property and Facilities Services department on all matters related to fire safety.
12. Promotion of positive fire safety behaviours and provide timely advice and guidance that will shape our processes & policies.
13. Responsible for monitoring and managing the key performance indicators of third parties to ensure compliance requirements are met.
14. Undertaking effective investigations of fire incidents to identify underlying root causes.
15. Horizon scanning to ensure that the business is aware of and informed of any upcoming changes to legislation.
The experience you'll have
1. A strong background in building services and fire safety would be advantageous.
2. Understanding of regulatory framework to support the compliant delivery of workplace services.
3. Practical knowledge of fire safety engineering, and ability to resolve complex issues.
4. Fully conversant with current fire safety legislation and technical standards.
You might also have
1. NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety or equivalent.
2. Membership of IFE and/or IFSM.
3. Third party certification in fire risk assessments.
4. Member of IOSH.
5. Technical qualifications from an M&E background.
