Support Worker – Challenging Behaviour Taunton £12.86 - £13 per hour – Term Time only We have a unique opportunity to join a dedicated team as a Support Worker in the Taunton area focusing on working with children who have a history or severe trauma and challenging behaviour. About the role We are currently seeking a Support Worker to work within our partner SEMH (Social and Emotional Mental Health) school setting in the Taunton area. The Support Worker role involves supporting school-aged pupils who have been identified as having a Special Educational Need relating to behaviour and/or trauma. This will include supporting pupils in the classroom alongside the Class Teacher and other members of support staff. About the school Set in the Taunton area, this school offers a safe, nurturing environment for children with Social and Emotional Mental Health Needs working with a range of outside agencies to ensure that their children achieve more than they thought possible. The school is close to local bus routes and is a short distance from the train station. Requirements To be considered for the role of Behaviour Support Worker you will: Be compassionate, understanding and caring. Be flexible, proactive and a team player. Be able to build positive relationships with children and young people. Be able to demonstrate at interview the reasons why you want to start a career in education, and explain your understanding of the role of a Teaching Assistant and the important part they play in the school community. Understand the crucial importance of keeping children and young people safe. Be willing to pay for an enhanced DBS check and register with the Update Service.
