Right now, we’re looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Senior or Principal Sustainability Consultant to lead and grow our BREEAM services and team locally, based in our city centre office in Newcastle.
You’ll be part of our collaborative and growing team across the UK and will help with the development and delivery of a pipeline of exciting and complex projects.

So, what will you be responsible for?
This is an opportunity for you to develop our growing Smart Energy and Sustainability offering locally, as part of wider team across the UK. You will be naturally proactive and help support the development of the local service offering in response to evolving national and local legislative drivers.
Your key responsibilities will be to provide support in the following areas (list not exhaustive):
1. Leading the delivery of BREEAM projects, with support from a senior member of the team.
2. Part L, Energy Strategies and LCA assessment
3. Managing your own workload to meet project deadlines.
4. Reviewing project details and develop targets for sustainability.
5. Reviewing documentation provided by project teams, assess this against the project’s targets and provide feedback or follow-up.
6. Set up and maintain projects via the project evidence tracker.
7. Communicating sustainability requirements to internal and external team members.
8. Producing reports providing advice and guidance to clients and project teams.
9. Attending site visits to review progress against sustainability targets.
10. Reviewing the performance of designated projects on a monthly basis and update the team’s project tracker with progress information.
11. Assisting in preparing bids and proposals for new work.
12. Engaging with skills networks to exchange best practices and processes.
13. Attending and contributing to team meetings.
14. Completing relevant training to become certified as a BREEAM assessor / AP.
To succeed in this role, you’ll need:

20. Proven track record of project delivery.
21. Part L modelling experience (TAS preferable) and LCA experience (Oneclick preferable).
22. Experience developing and managing others (Principal/Associate grades only).
23. Emerging business development and sales skills.
24. Strong business development experience (Associate grade only).
We are also keen to know if you can offer any of these attributes:
25. Working knowledge of building performance modelling techniques and experience with software such as IES Virtual Environment, Spacemaker AI etc.
26. Knowledge of or technical ability in energy/renewables/built environment / environmental science-related disciplines
27. An ability to apply analytical skills across a range of scales, i.e. buildings, campuses, cities
28. Experience in presenting analytical information in a clear and concise manner
29. Knowledge of planning, environmental impact assessments or wider sustainability policy and legislation
30. Understanding of structural engineering, architectural design and materials specification and supply chains
31. Experience in producing Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs)
32. Qualifications within PAS 2050/2060/2080 standards
33. Experience in using CIBSE TM65 embodied carbon calculation methodology
34. Capability to lead a team and develop new products in an ever-expanding market
35. Graphic design capabilities including the ability to use software packages such as Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and BlueBeam.
36. Ability to develop digital toolkits for use internally and by clients
37. Hold a relevant degree, BEng (Hons) or BSc (Hons) or equivalent/higher.
38. Qualified BREEAM Assessor
39. Background in building physics/environmental design, environmental science or sustainability related disciplines.
40. Working knowledge of building performance modelling techniques.
41. Knowledge of planning, environmental impact assessments or wider sustainability legislation.
42. Knowledge of or technical ability in building services related disciplines.
