The Opportunity:
The Mental Health Platform is a UK-wide collaboration bringing together researchers, clinicians, and people with lived experience of SMI to advance understanding, improve diagnosis, and develop better treatments and support.
As a core member of the MHP Coordinating Team at the University of Edinburgh, you will be responsible for ensuring that PWLE are fully involved in key processes, events, and decision-making. This includes coordinating and supporting the MHP PPIE Steering Group and Network, co-creating engagement activities, and driving accessibility, equity, diversity, and inclusion across the platform.
This is an exciting opportunity to help shape how the voices of those with lived experience in SMI are integrated into collaborative research.
This post is part-time (14 hours per week). Working patterns are flexible and allow for remote / home working. However, attendance at the Chancellors Building/Royal Infirmary, Edinburgh for in-person meetings would be preferred. You will also have opportunities to travel across the UK for 2-4 annual events involving the MHP team and PWLE members.
This post is funded until the 31st March 2029 and will be part of the Mental Health Platform (MHP) funded by the UKRI.
Your skills and attributes for success:
Proven experience in coordinating Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) initiatives
Excellent communication and collaborative skills, with familiarity in co-production values.
Strong skills in planning and delivering projects, with the ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously.
Commitment to creating and supporting an equitable, diverse and inclusive research/PPIE culture
Strong interest or knowledge in the field of mental health or lived experience of SMI (as an individual, carer, or through professional/voluntary roles).
