We are looking for senior carers for our 21 bedded home specialising in Care for the elderly, dementia and nursing for 37.5 to 40 hours per week.
This is an exciting and varied role, which includes the following duties:
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES-
Assisting residents with all personal care
Medication rounds
Writing up the daily notes at the end of the shift
Ensuring that all changes have been noted and where required communicated to the appropriate person by either writing in the unit or the managers communication book
Carrying out admissions as requested by the Manager
Checking in of new medication, ordering and storing new medications following Home policy
Assisting in inducting new care staff
Writing care and risk assessments and reviewing as required mainly monthly
Ensure that you and others follow the key worker procedure
Checking of any wounds or injuries and completing the daily body map forms.
Updating and communicating with families.
Communication with other health professionals.
Attending Monthly Senior staff meetings led by the Care Home Manager.
Attending any emergency bell situations where you will assess and treat the resident accordingly. This includes falls, skin wounds and dressing changes.
Reviewing of resident’s plan of care file on a monthly basis.
Check and monitor poorly or high risk residents closely throughout your shift.
Delegating tasks and duties to your team of care staff
When on shift you are part of the team complement and as such are required to help and assist with all aspects of residents care
When running a shift; please see extra responsibilities below:
Undertaking tasks requested by the Unit Manager on the previous shift
Handing over to the next shift
Writing any changes in medication or changes to residents care
Leaving detailed accounts of any new instructions or information for the next day or shift for all staff
All falls, complaints and emergency situations will be reported to the main office and on the unit
Manage the staff team for the shift including break times
Contact Doctor, District Nurses or any other health professional if a residents condition causes immediate concern
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: NVQ (Adult) Level 2 or above OR equivalent. Must be in the process of completing NVQ (Adult) Level 3.
Experience: Senior Care Role or Team Leader: 1 year (required)
Satisfactory enhanced DBS Check and where applicable a check against the DBS First List
