My client is a leading Sussex law firm which has been practising and providing legal services for over a century. A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Legal Assistant or Paralegal to join its Private Client department.
Key Responsibilities:
1. To assist fee-earners in the management of caseload by actioning legal procedures as directed by them. Including (but not limited to) the areas of: Wills and Trusts, Estates, Estate Administration, Powers of Attorney and Court of Protection.
2. To assist fee-earners in the management of a caseload by dealing with file related queries, face to face or by telephone.
3. To process matters in a timely and cost-effective manner.
4. To support fee-earners in the maintenance of files by effective file management.
5. To ensure that clients are dealt with efficiently and politely and that appropriate legal matters are raised with the fee-earner.
6. To attend to clients, taking instructions and making enquiries as necessary.
7. To follow correctly all procedures and systems in order to manage cases effectively and in accordance with the firm’s standards and legal requirements. Including efficient use of the case management system.
8. To improve and enhance the firm’s client base by effective liaison with existing clients.
9. To help maximise the firm’s potential to cross-sell services by identifying appropriate opportunities (with guidance).
10. To manage own work allocation, productivity and quality of work with supervision.
11. To comply with all private client and firm policies and procedures.
12. To ensure our clients and introducers of business receive the best possible service at all times.
13. To provide holiday/absence cover for other support staff in the department where appropriate.
14. To provide cover for Reception/office administration where appropriate.
15. Any other reasonable duties, which your line manager may request from time to time.
The ideal candidate:
1. Previous experience as a Legal Secretary/Paralegal (ideally in Private Client).
2. High level of attention to detail.
3. IT literate – Microsoft Word/Excel/Outlook/Digital Dictation/Case Management Systems.
4. Strong organisational and time management skills.
5. Fast, accurate typing ability using digital dictation and audio systems.
6. Excellent communication skills and team player.
7. Proactive, professional and friendly demeanour.
Hours: Full Time - Part Time hours and/or Fixed Term options are considered.
