Job Description – Hospitality and Events Supervisor About the Hospitality and Events Team The Hospitality and Events Team provides a wide range of opportunities – from the set-up and delivery of an event, to welcoming the customers and promoting our events, to looking after customer safety and working within the food and beverage areas of our operations, to taking on projects to increase student engagement and enhance student experience. You’ll be joining a versatile team that looks after the customer journey from beginning to end, and that puts student experience at its core, with roles working across the organisation. The Hospitality and Events Team works across two areas, including Hospitality and Venue Operations. You will be provided with training and the opportunity to be involved in both parts. We believe in supporting our staff members to learn and develop with us. We do this by holding regular performance and development reviews and showing a clear path of progression. The Role To act as a representative of the Hospitality Management Team by taking ownership of your venue, contributing to its success, and helping develop it.Problem Solving, decision making and effective planning To operate in a fast-paced environment, overseeing different areas whilst maintaining quality and attention to detail. To take responsibility of daily financial goals from an operational capacity, i.e stock management, staff management and target performance To communicate instructions and delegate tasks to team members, training and developing staff on shift, seeking guidance from the Duty Manager if more in-depth training is required. Managing general Health & Safety of the venue, reporting incidents/near misses, following DUSA documentation procedure including daily/weekly paperwork To prepare and serve food & drinks in line with DUSA House Rules, ensuring licensing compliance is adhered to. To assist staff from other departments if required and any other duties that may reasonably be expected by the Duty Manager. To provide a consistently welcoming and friendly service within all areas of work at DUSA for customers. The Person As a Hospitality and Events Supervisor, we will be looking for you to have a friendly positive attitude, be able to take initiative and maintain a strong work ethic throughout busy shifts. As the needs of the organisation are so diverse, we require our staff to be dynamic and approachable in various situations. As a supervisor strong communication and the ability to motivate is key to ensure the smooth operating of a venue and its team. Leadership qualities including accountability and the ability to operate autonomously are vital as you would be responsible for your team and the venue, with support from management. Finally, we require our staff to be flexible regarding working hours as we operate throughout the year in many different spaces and times. Qualifications/Knowledge/Experience Previous Bar, Coffee and Barista experience desirable but not essential Customer service training or experience desirable Leadership experience beneficial Hours of Work Variable Hours – Rota basis –no more than 20 hours per week for student applicants only, to avoid compromising academic commitments, unless an exemption is granted. There will be a requirement to work weekends and evenings. Salary Variable rate depending on shift type. DUSA is a real Living Wage employer. During your assignment you shall be paid at a rate of £12.00 per hour for all normal shifts. All Hospitality Supervisor shifts will get paid at the Hospitality Supervisor rate of £12.45 per hour.
