The Advanced Customer Services (ACS) practice is looking for Service Delivery Engineers working within ACS to deliver proactive and reactive technical support to customers.
The Advanced Customer Services (ACS) practice is a unit within the Oracle UK Customer Service Organisation that establishes long term relationships with many of Oracle's largest UK customers through annuity-based support contracts. Service Delivery Engineers working within ACS deliver proactive and reactive technical support to these customers, assisting them to maximise the stability, availability and performance of their critical business systems. Service Delivery Engineers work mainly on customer sites with occasional opportunities to work from home or from our Reading, Solihull, Manchester and City offices. The preference for this ACS role is for London based engineer or to be able to commute to Central London. Training is provided to ensure Service Delivery Engineers maintain an up to date knowledge of Oracle products and services.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Proactively working with ACS customers to ensure their successful deployment of the Oracle Database Server
* Technical assistance with software installations
* Performance assessments and tuning
* System configuration health checks
* Upgrade and implementation planning and advice Patch management
* Proactively alerting customers to product developments and issues Delivering technical presentations
* Delivering reactive onsite technical support in a timely manner
* Problem analysis and investigation
* Providing and verifying problem workarounds or patches
* Researching and responding to technical enquiries
* Forming effective professional relationships with Oracle Service Delivery Managers, Oracle Product Support and customer staff, at all levels, to ensure customer satisfaction with Oracle's products and support organisation.
EXPERIENCE:
* Hands-on experience with Oracle9i and 10G and Real Application Clusters (RAC) essential
* Hands-on experience of any of the following a definite advantage
* Database performance tuning, Oracle Advanced Queuing, Oracle Streams, Oracle Dataguard, Oracle Recovery Manager, Oracle 11g Database, Oracle 10g Database, Oracle Enterprise Manager, Oracle 9i/10g Application Server
* Strong Unix skills essential, additional Linux/Windows skills useful.
PERSONAL PROFILE:
* Proven experience installing, configuring, administering and tuning Oracle databases – preferably gained in a production environment
* Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
* Self motivated and resourceful
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to work as a team player as well as on own initiative
* Ability to work under pressure in escalated situations
* Good presentation skills
* Willingness to work on customer sites anywhere within the UK (including Central London)
* Full UK driving licence Oracle Certified Professional qualification an advantage.
