Applications are invited for this is exciting opportunity to play a key role in the delivery of a broad range of road maintenance, operations, and street lighting projects within the Roads Service of Falkirk Council.
It's a great time to join the team here at Falkirk. Our 'Council of the Future' programme is supporting a more enabled workforce, that is encouraged to explore and test new ways of working and to work more holistically across different service areas.
You'll take overall responsibility for managing and allocating the resources available to the service - allocating budgets, deploying staff or commissioning services to ensure a highquality programme of roads maintenance that represents good value for money, meets legislative requirements and supports a first-class transport infrastructure all year round for our community. Careful oversight of our winter service will be an important aspect of the role.
This is a role with plenty of opportunity to do things differently. You will be encouraged to pursue commercial opportunities for the service, and to work more holistically with other service areas to enable us to simplify processes, share resources better and tailor our approach around the things that matter most to our community.
It's a highly visible service, so it's essential that you can manage the customer and stakeholder engagement that is an integral part of the role, as well as bringing the relevant technical and professional qualifications and experience. We expect that you will be educated to degree standard with membership of an approved professional body, and that you already have senior management experience in a related setting. Accomplished people management skills (ideally within a unionised working environment) will be an important attribute.
If you are the successful candidate, you will be required to carry out a Disclosure Scotland check.
